festival
All is set for the 7th Kannawidan Ylocos festival marking the
195th foundation anniversary of Ilocos Sur from January 29 to February 9.
The festival opens at the Quirino Stadium in Vigan City January
29 with Sen. Cynthia A. Villar gracing the event.
It comes three days after the Vigan Longganiza Festival 2014 on
January 26. Ilocos Sur Gov. Ryan Luis Singson said yesterday that the Kannawidan Festival
presents the Ilocano heritage and traditions.
“Our festival this year will feature competitions in traditional
choral singing, rituals, beauty search, painting, fashion show, and zarzuela
ilocana,” Singson said.
Several sporting events will be held during the festival such as
horseracing, fun run, amazing race competition, kiteboarding in Magsingal; and
dragon boat racing and frisbee challenge in Cabugao.
